How to Loosen the Brake on Your Hugo Rollator

Hugo Rollators are equipped with an advanced braking system that allows you to adjust the tension of the brakes. This lets you both loosen or tighten the brakes, as required. Depending on the strength of the user to control the rollator, and the upward or downward incline of the surface level, brake tension can be adjusted for faster or slower movement. Control the speed of the rollator by loosening or tightening the brakes.

Loosening the brake in 4 easy steps

1. With an Allen wrench, included with your unit, loosen the bolt.

2. With a pair of pliers, grab the brake cable approximately ¼” down from the brass housing (see picture below). While still firmly holding onto the brake cable with the pliers, squeeze the brake handle. The cable should move slightly.

3. Re-tighten the bolt with the Allen wrench.

4. Make sure your brakes are working properly. If not you may need to either loosen the cable again or if you loosened it too much you will need to go through the procedure to tighten the brakes (included).
